What is Spirit?

A scientific explanation of spirit

Hello friends. I know it’s been such a long time since we lit up a camp fire and had some interesting conversations. I always get people asking me when I’m writing another piece. This is the same as for my YouTube channel that I started back in 2020. I think it’s also time that whatever is written here, I also post a video about it. Let me not divert too much. Have you ever asked yourself what spirit is? If so have you come to understand what it really is? Let me tell you my understanding, probably it will help you go further into trying to discover your own definition and meaning.

As human beings we have had a tendency to categorise things that actually have a common thing or let me say revolve around the same principles. We get one group, scientists who believe the “scientific” way of how things are or how the world was formed. We then get people who believe in Spirit, who believe a higher being(God) created the world and that spirit governs things. We won’t include other groups such as those who don’t believe in anything or try and categorise different religions for the sake of this discussion.

For me, you cannot explain spirituality without involving science in the topic. In the same breath, you can’t think of science as a separate entity, the way everything about science relates to each other makes me believe that things didn’t happen by chance. They were engineered.

I will explain Spirit while touching on both entities as I go along. A common definition of Spirit is that you cannot see with the eye. You cannot see or touch it. You can feel it, not with touch, but through chemical reactions in our body that make us feel a certain way. If you are not a spiritual person it’s gonna be hard for you to easily accept this. Those who are spiritually connected will easily understand what I mean by this paragraph.

Science involves things that you can see and cannot see with the naked eye. Things that you can see e.g the trees, sun, moon, animals etc are things we know they exist and we study and know them scientifically. We know they are made up of cells (a basic unit of life) and we know that the trees need soil, water and the sun to grow (photosynthesis rings a bell at this stage right?). We also know that trees bring nutrients to us (minerals and vitamins) that essentially come from the soil. We as human beings also have minerals that come from the soil( calcium, iron) to name a few and we are also made up of cells. Cells have a DNA which have genes that make up and control our bodies.

Things that cannot be seen with the naked eye include waves( radio waves, sound, infra-red, magnetic waves). Just because we cannot see them does not mean they do not exist but we know they are there. That’s what we believe spirit to be. Generally we believe spirit to be what heals or destroy (good spirit and evil spirit).

This topic now gets more complicated than that. Whatever you see physically also exists spiritually. Yes I’m talking about us as human beings, animals, plants, including things that we ourselves have created (knives, needles etc) and I will explain why I say this.

I now want to introduce a scientific entity called Quantum Physics in this discussion. You may pause at this point rush over to youtube and watch a video about quantum physics then come back and read further. If you don’t have time that’s still okay. I will walk you through it the simplex and yet efficient way possible. Here is the Link:

Quantum Physics means “after physics”. That means physics that came after the physics we’ve always generally applied to life. It tries to explain why the old physics we know is the way it is and that there’s a possibility that it’s not as exact and as precise as we think it is.

Going back to scientific things such as sound that we know exist but can’t see with the eye. We know that our ears hear sound because we have what we call receptors can pick up sound. The way these receptors work, they are only able pick up certain sound (sounds of a particular frequency), other sounds we cannot hear. For instance we cannot hear radio waves and yet they are around us but we need a radio to take those radio waves of a different frequency and bring them into the frequency our ears can hear. That’s science. If our ears had receptors able to pick up radio waves, we wouldn’t need a radio. Also we see objects and light because our eyes have receptors that can pick up waves and turn them into an image that our brain processes and tell us what it is. Some blind people have eyes but cannot see, because their receptors do not work. If our eyes had radio receptors, we would be able to see radio waves or magnetic waves.

I know you are confused at this point but let’s continue with this discussion. Stand up, drink water and take a wee then come back.

For us as human beings and animals we see or hear things because we can pick up waves and through our eyes and ears. That information goes into our conscious mind and are aware of what we see and hear. Certain animals have extra abilities because hey have the receptors we don’t have. An Example is an Elephant, it’s able to pick up what is called infrasound(sound that is lower than what we can hear) because it has ears that pick up infrasound and can therefore hear another elephant that is up to 10 kilometres away. Just because we don’t see or hear infrasound does not mean it’s not there, an elephant would tell you. Another example would be ultrasound that we use to check the gender of your fetus so that you can throw a gender reveal party with your friends. We use machines to turn that sound into images.

Do you now see where I’m going with this “what you can’t see doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist” thing?

Something moving at a very high speed disappears from your eyes and just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there. A spinning coin closely moves to a level of disappearance because you can’t tell between heads or tails. If it would spin even faster you wouldn’t even see the actual coin until it slows down again. Some things we don’t see because they are constantly moving at high speed than our brain can comprehend.

Going back to quantum physics. Its states that everything is in its wave form and not in its physical form. It’s only physical because you can process the waves and see the manifestation of the waves. Anything has the ability to exist but it’s limited to what our consciousness mind can pick up. I don’t wanna be scientific when explaining this. It also states that there’s no past, present or future. Everything is happening together at the same time. (What do sangomas, prophets and fortune tellers do)? They can read the past, present and the future. Spiritually they have receptors that can tap into the different dimensions. Spirits of dead people( be it Jesus Christ or our ancestors) exist in different dimensions. You need the ability to see that dimension. Just because you cannot see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. They live in certain wave form according to the laws of quantum physics.

Our brain has two components; the conscious and subconscious mind. The conscious mind is what we are aware of in our surroundings, the subconscious mind is the one that does things we are not aware of. It controls the heart, your breathing, your certain thoughts, emotions etc. I’m compelled to think that it does have receptors that pick up things, but doesn’t bring them into our conscious mind and only keeps them there in the subconscious. That’s why earlier in the discussion I said we can feel spirit through certain chemical reactions that happen in our body. You brain tells you when something is not right. Sometimes you know when someone is looking at you even when you’re not looking. You know when something is in the room with you even if you can’t see it physically.

Have you ever seen how people who use black magic will use knives and needs, fire etc? They manipulate physical properties of those objects to exist in the spirit world because everything like I said exists both physically and spiritually.

Our Ancient ancestors understood science. They understood cosmology. We even have the oldest calendar based in South Africa, called Adam’s calendar. Read up on how it functions and types of rocks used to build it. You will learn how it is in alignment with the Pyramids of Egypt as well. Knowledge systems com from Africa. In conclusion

Everything simply exists in waves and waves are Scientific. For me you can’t talk about spirit and not talk about science because they have a close relationship together, if not married. Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there. We just lack receptors in our body that will make us aware that it is there.
